Dr Pierre du Toit

Dr Pierre du Toit obtained his MBChB degree at the University of the Free State in 1995 after which he completed his internship at Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital. He thereafter was appointed Medical Officer in the same hospital and gained experience in general internal medicine and anesthesiology.

In 1997 he completed an Honorary Degree in Pharmacology (BSc Hons Pharm) at the University of Potchefstroom. He then was appointed as Registrar at the University of the Free State and completed his postgraduate specialist training in Internal Medicine.

Dr du Toit then joined the private practice as a specialist physician in Klerksdorp. He worked in Wilmed Park Private Hospital and Life Anncron Clinic from 2002 until 2015 where he gained experience in Intensive Care, diagnostic endoscopy and various sub-disciplines of Internal Medicine.

Some of his many interests are hypertension, diabetes and the pharmacological management of cardiovascular risk.

Dr du Toit has attended many international seminars and workshops. He is also a member of the Faculty of Physicians of SA and a member of the American Society of Echo Cardiography.

Dr Attie Botha

Dr Attie Botha obtained his MB;ChB at the University of Stellenbosch in 2005, after which he completed his Internship training at Windhoek Central Hospital in Windhoek, Namibia. After returning to Somerset West’s Helderberg Hospital in 2007, he completed his community service year and continued to manage the orthopaedic surgery department there until the end of 2009.

In 2010 he was appointed as registrar at Tygerberg Hospital and completed his postgraduate specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery. In 2014 he obtained his MMed Orth (Stell) degree Cum Laude, and was awarded the Post Graduate Student of the Year award by the University of Stellenbosch’s Faculty of Health Sciences for academic excellence in a structured master’s degree.
In the same year, the College of Medicine presented him with the prestigious JM Edelstein medal for a very high standard of academic proficiency in the Fellowship examination of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa.

He completed an AO Spine Fellowship, qualifying him as a spinal surgery subspecialist. During this time he worked with highly regarded peers in the field of spinal surgery, and gained extensive exposure in the various sub-disciplines of spinal surgery.

Dr Botha has delivered many podium presentations at congresses and actively participates in research which is published in peer reviewed journals. He is also a member of the South African Orthopaedic Association, the South African Spine Society and AO Spine.

Dr D Greyling

MBChB - 1989: University of the Free State

Dr D Greyling previous worked as a hospital, general and family practitioner in Heidelberg Gauteng for 12 years, with a broad experience in general family practice, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology.

During the 12 years, he served on the Heidelberg Hospital Board and was the Acting Medical Officer for the Sedibeng local municipality. He was also involved in various projects for the Ratanda community and managed an AIDS awareness program.

Dr Greyling achieved most of his training at the Universitas Academic Hospital and the University of the Free State. He was involved in research on dementia from 2009 till 2013 on a group of patients in managing the clinical presentation of patients with dementia from the Q10/66 dementia pilot study.

Dr Greyling is presently practising as a Geriatrician in private practice for the past four years. His primary interest is acute geriatric medicine, dementia and preventative geriatric medicine. The emphasis of geriatric medicine is curative, if possible and palliative for elderly frail patients. The geriatric field is a growing internal medicine field with only 15 private practising Geriatricians in South Africa. The assessment of the elderly is a very important field for determining common conditions in the elderly, treating reversible conditions and improving quality of life.

Dr Heinrich Pohl

MBChB (Pret) FCS (SA) MMed (Stell)

Dr Pohl qualified as a general surgeon from the University of Stellenbosch. Prior to that he worked in various surgical units in the country gaining vital surgical experience. It was during his training in the Eastern Cape that he met his wife, Berdine, who is currently a paediatrician in private practice.


They have 3 daughters. They enjoy travelling and spending time in the outdoors.Dr Pohl takes interest in, amongst others, endocrine surgery and has co-authored an international journal publication in the field of breast cancer. He has also recently worked as a consultant in the surgical critical care unit of Tygerberg Hospital.

He is a member of various professional surgical societies in South Africa:

  • South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons
